Greubel Forsey Tourbillon Features

THE ULTRA-HIGH-END tourbillon specialist Greubel Forsey has gone casual. Its Double Tourbillon Technique Black is the brand’s first black watch and the first with a titanium case and rubber strap.

The watch’s other features will be familiar to Greubel Forsey fans, most notably its dou- ble tourbillon, at 6 o’clock, which consists of one 60-second tourbillon inclined at 30 degrees rotating inside another tourbillon cage that turns once every four minutes.

The movement was designed so that as many components as possible are visible. The components themselves were finished with a variety of techniques – including mirror polishing, frosting and beveling – so as to enhance the movement’s beauty.

There are four coaxial barrels that provide 120 hours of running power. The power-reserve indicator is at 3 o’clock and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock.

Greubel Forsey’s other new watches included a rose-gold version of the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Contemporain. A platinum version came out last year. The watch has a titanium movement plate and bridges that have been given a special finish that turns them bright blue.

As the watch’s name suggests, the tourbillon turns once every 24 seconds. It is inclined at a 25-degree angle and sits beneath a transparent sapphire bridge.
