The Modern Mariner Automatic from Luminox

The Modern Mariner Automatic from Luminox saves its colors for the dark. With the lights out, one can see a highly illuminated dial.

The hands and 12 o’clock index have ice-blue light tubes, and the other hour markers light up in green. These tubes, Luminox says, will glow for 25 years. Inside the Mariner is an automatic Sellita SW220-1 movement.

The 45-mm case is stainless steel, as is the unidirectional rotating bezel, which has another blue light tube at 12 o’clock. The Mariner has a screw-down caseback and a nonreflective sapphire crystal in front.

Day and date are displayed at 3 o’clock, and there are 24-hour markings inside the ring of indices. The watch is water resist- ant to 300 feet.

It comes on a black leather strap or a stainless-steel bracelet. The model shown here, which has a black PVD-coated case.
